Our client is a world leader in metal manufacturing and process engineering with over 6000 employees worldwide. Due to internal promotions the company is seeking an number of additional engineers to join the team in St Neots.

They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer who would take responsiblity for the design and test of enclosures to protect sensitive electronic packages that will be used in the defence and commercial aviation industry.

The role will be predominantly to design and test these systems for the company, taking into account various enviromental issues commonplace with the aerospace industry. This will include protection against problems such as vibration, stress, thermal and EMC issues. Principally this will be a DFM / DFA role which will require the engineer to be able to consider how the design is machined and constructed in order to make it the most effective and cost efficent solution available. The role will also include using simulation tools to test the effectiveness of the design against these enviromental factors.

Working closely with other members of the design team you will work to upgrade existing designs as well as producing new and more efficent designs. The role willl give lots of variety and allow the sucessful candidate to engage in a worldwide business which is always looking to develop new and more efficent solutions for the industry.

To be considered the company is looking for

* A background in mechanical engineeing qualified to a minimum of HND or ideally degree level

* Experience in Design using 3D Cad packages (ideally Solidworks)

* Knowledge of practical machining and ideally sheet metal techniques

* Previously worked within a DFM and / or a DFA enviroment

* Knowldge of using test simulations to consider issues such as Stress, vibration, thermal and EMC effects

In return the company offers a generous salary package, non contributory pension (5%) 24 days holiday with an xmas shut down (included in the 24 days), sick pay scheme and other benefits. Hours of work are 8am-5pm with a 1pm finish on a Friday.
