A business helping to change the energy market by harnessing the latest technology require a Mechanical Designer to assist with an increased demand for their products over the next 3 months.

The role is to perform mechanical design changes to existing products, components and equipment, analysing existing designs and recommending improvements. This includes mechanical testing of new products, components and equipment.

The key responsibilities include:

• Mechanically design and develop new and existing plastic injection moulded components and metal press tool components
• Mechanically design and develop production equipment and production processes, prototype and sample test equipment, jigs, fixtures etc
• Participate in design concepts and reviews, ensuring products are designed for manufacturing & test
• Liaising with sub-contractor tooling manufacturers for requirements and issues
• Liaising with sub-contractors for production equipment manufacturing, investigating alternatives where applicable

Skills & experience required:

• Extensive knowledge of injection moulding and metal press tooling and materials
• Design experience of high volume plastic and metal components
• Able to design and build and test prototype mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Able to design mechanical parts for non-production items such as test equipment
• HNC/HND or higher in Mechanical Design or Mechatronics
• Experience of using SolidWorks for designing mechanical parts
• Experience of maintaining mechanical part databases and control systems
• Team player and have a professional attitude towards quality.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

The position attracts remuneration at approx. £25ph dependent upon experience and you will be working within a small friendly team.
