Manager (ACCA / ACA) (Company Advisory) – Swindon – up to £65k + Benefits depending on experience

I am currently working with a Swindon based practice who are currently in the market for a Client Manager to join on a permanent basis.
The role is as Manager in the firm’s Company Advisory (“CA”) department, with an opportunity to work on a portfolio of high-value/ technically complex clients. It will appeal to an experienced accountant that enjoys a mix of recurring work and special work.
Since the Head of Department arrived in 2016, and with the founding partners’ ongoing business winning skills, the department has continued to attract a clients with increasingly complex needs. In addition to needing core services (year-end accounts, VAT, PAYE) the large clients typically require advice on a range of high-level matters including but by no means limited to share structuring, tax structures for investors, corporation tax reliefs available, financial statements disclosures and tax planning for the directors.

The CA department looks after approximately 500 businesses. Many are established owner-managed businesses, in addition to which we attract 75-100 new clients per annum.

The role is full time and London based, however there will be an opportunity to discuss flexible working, if required. This could mean either being based at the company’s office in Swindon, or at home with occasional visits to London, my client can be very flexible.

In the role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

• Take a lead role in advising high-value/ technically complex clients on both strategic and day to day requirements.
• Develop communication skills, both internally and with decision makers at clients.
• Research and advise on technical issues (internally and externally)
• Build knowledge of tax planning opportunities that exist for SMEs and their owners.
• Build new business development skills.
• Develop team management skills


The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

• ACA qualified or ACCA qualified, and able to demonstrate a strong technical background.

• For clients in the individual’s portfolio:
• Oversee the relationship at manager level to ensure that all services are being provided to the highest standards.
• Manager responsibility for day to day requests and queries.
• Manager responsibility for the preparation of accounts and corporation tax returns.
• Liaise with Partners and Senior Manager on salient matters.
• Liaise with the Private Clients Tax Department to ensure that clients get optimal tax solutions.
• Liaise with the Practice Manager to ensure that invoices are raised for agreed amounts on a timely basis.
• For clients in the team portfolio
• Provide technical reviews and support.
• Advise on day to day enquiries that require manager level input.
• Managing and training junior staff
