A Retail company in Dartford are seeking a Management Accounts Assistant to join their team on a full time Permanant basis.

• Assist in the preparation of the Monthly/Quarterly/Year-end Management accounts packs to include P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash flow, Cost Centre analysis and forecasts within a target of 5 working days, which comply with best accounting practice and Steinhoff Group standards

• Prepare the reconciliations of specific balance Sheet control accounts as authorised on a monthly basis, investigating all discrepancies as they arise

• Responsible for the posting of the monthly adhoc intercompany invoices and journals

• Responsible for the Intercompany Matrix process to include reconciling Accounts

• Responsible for the Accounting of Specific Utility & property costs to include Accruals, & prepayments. Responsibility for posting journals, updating Forecast and Budget, reconciliation of the related control account and providing variance analysis to the Finance Manager and forecasting manager to support costs monthly

• Producing adhoc schedules for Monthly Management accounts pack

Sales Reporting

• Joint responsibility for daily and weekly Sales reporting to the business at large
• Responsibility for Uploading Stores forecast onto Sales system and Telephone text
• Being in a position to investigate any queries relating to Sales report submissions
• Producing and distributing Stores Like for like Matrix and budget comparators based on business information

Commercial Management Information

• The efficient and timely reporting of management information including the provision of daily and weekly sales data to internal users.
• Assist in the provision of variance analysis for cost centre between actual, forecast, budget and prior year.
• Assist in the provision of commercial financial support to all areas of the business as requested.
• Production of any additional management information as requested


Fixed Assets
• Support the Management Accountant responsible for Fixed Assets
• Assist with the maintenance of all necessary Fixed Asset documentation in an agreed filing system.
• Assist with the posting of Monthly Depreciation charges
• Assist with the systematic Fixed Asset audit as required
• Assist with Preparing all Fixed Asset and Capex schedules for the month end pack
• Assist with reconciling the Fixed Asset register to the balance sheet on a monthly basis
• Assist with any other adhoc Fixed asset task as required

• Assist in Preparation of annual P11d’s
• Assist in Preparation of PSA settlement agreement, analysis and query resolution, through liaison with task manager
• Assist with Analysis for the preparation of VAT and Intrastat returns

Project Work
• Completion of statutory and statistical returns
• Assist in financial project work associated with commercial aspects of the business as requested
• Assist in Collating company KPI’s on a monthly basis
• Assist in Collating commercial team KPI’s on a monthly basis

• Provide cover as necessary within the Finance department
• Participate in the development of a culture of continuous improvement within the department
• Ensure all documentation is filed away in accordance with company archive guidelines and ensure it is easy to retrieve
• Ensure the department is kept tidy at all times
• Ensure all safety procedures are observed at all times

Studying AAT
 Experience of working within the finance function of a business.
 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly excel spreadsheets
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Able to plan, prioritise and work to timescales and deadlines
 Able to manage multiple priorities
 Self Motivated
 Good sense of humour
 Professional in manner and appearance
 Professional in manner and appearance
 Willing to travel and stay overnight occasionally


ACCA/CIMA Foundation level
 Experience within a retail or manufacturing environment

 Experience of using Navision or Coda systems
 Desire to challenge existing processes to continually improve working methods and identify control weaknesses
