I am currently working with an innovative community organisation based in East London to recruit for an experienced Part-Qualified Management Accountant.  The current finance team of 4 has a newly created position available to support an established function.  The work of the organisation is inspiring and supports many families, adults and young people in the local community.  This is a great opportunity to support a fantastic cause whilst progressing a career within finance and gaining exposure to many key finance elements, liaising with stakeholders frequently to support their project work. 

Duties of the role will include:

Management Accounting
Preparation and discussion of draft Management Accounts with budget holders monthly
Ensure the Management Accounts pack is completed for review by Head of Finance
Maintain the Nominal ledger and ensure its accuracy

Project Accounting
Preparation of weekly contract/grant tracker reports to budget holders and senior managers
Maintain Project sub-ledgers
Provide financial training to service delivery colleagues when required

Bank Reconciliations
Ensure all bank and all other cash books are reconciled on a monthly basis
Oversee the finance officers with all bank related transactions and queries

Balance Sheet Reconciliations
Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are competed monthly
Ensure all balance sheet ledger balances are accurate 
Ensure all payroll ledgers are reconciled and accurate
Ensure accruals and prepayments are accounted for at month end

Cash flow

Ensure cash flow analysis is updated weekly
Highlight any cash flow issues to Head of Finance

Fixed Assets
Ensure Fixed Assets register is up to date 
Ensure all additions are capitalised in line with accounting policies and included in the register
Ensure monthly depreciation charge is correctly accounted for at month end

VAT Return
Ensure VAT returns are submitted to HMRC on time
Ensure VAT reconciliations are completed upon submission
Ensure payment to HMRC is processed on time
Keep up to date with relevant VAT legislation

Budgets & Forecasts
Assist with forecasts and budgeting
Ensure budget and forecast is reflected accurately in the Management accounts pack

Statutory Matters & Compliance
Assist with Statutory Reporting
Assist the Finance Officers with the annual audit
Assist with reviewing processes and procedures when needed
Assist with compliance and regulatory matters

File Management and other support
Ensure Filing is up to date at all times
Assist with Sage upgrade project
Undertake relevant training as requested by your line manager and as part of continuous professional development
Attend one-to-one meetings and annual performance appraisal meetings
Maintain effective working relationships with different stakeholders and partners
Other ad-hoc duties

The ideal candidate will be studying towards a professional accounting qualification, ideally ACCA or CIMA and have experience producing monthly management reports previously.  Experience of the not-for-profit sector would also be advantageous.  You will possess an ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance staff being able to support stakeholders with specific ongoing projects from a financial perspective.
