Fantastic opportunity to work in a small and dynamic not-for-profit organisation with global connections. This opportunity is for a Management Accountant to join them on a 12-month fixed term contract, and will be based among a team of 5 in their friendly offices in the heart of Clapham. The role will be on a part-time basis at 5 half days per week with a pro-rate salary of £45,000 per annum. Flexible working arrangements are on offer as well as excellent staff benefits.

Key Duties

Business performance reporting (60%): 
• Liaise with managers and directors of six income centres to understand nature of variances from budget/forecast and corrective action in hand. Challenge where appropriate.
• Support the production of robust budgets, half year forecasts and most likely outcomes (produced in month 10) for assigned income centres.
• Produce monthly commentaries and ad-hoc commentaries for financial reports reviewed by management and Institute committees.
• Ensure that the chart of accounts for each income centre is aligned to the needs of the accountable director.

Operations (20%):
• Manage and operate the monthly direct debit process.
• Undertake user testing of the Protech Pro8 invoicing and sales ledger module as directed.

VAT and Tax accounting (20%):
• Assist with the production of the quarterly VAT return and in particular in the identification of partially disallowed inputs.
• Produce analyses for the Corporation Tax calculation, splitting income and revenue between mutual and non-mutual trading as appropriate.


Person Specification:
• Broad experience of commercial businesses and small not-for-profit distribution organisations.
• Experience of advising management.
• Ability to analyse business performance and write clear commentary.
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Strong influencing skills.
• Flexible approach - able to identify risks and opportunities and to think creatively to suggest practical actions.
• Able to maintain and develop effective business relationships with volunteers, staff, managers and directors.
