Reed Accountancy are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant in South Birmingham on an ongoing temporary basis.
Reporting to the Finance Director the suitable candidate will work closely with Business Managers and Finance Managers across the organisation and be primarily responsible for the compilation and distribution of management reports.
You will be a point of contact with external auditors, and liaise with external advisers and customers. You will also ensure that all regulations and protocols required.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To be responsible directly to the Financial Director for all financial and accounting procedures
To be the primary contact for finance queries from BM/Finance Managers
To oversee financial compliance procedures and monitor and evaluate the Trust’s finances, ensuring compliance with financial requirements and ensuring value for money
To be responsible for organisation teams salary forecasts, preparing annual budget in consultation with the Financial Director and the strategic improvement plan
To be involved in managing financial inspections by internal and external audit and other bodies and taking action on any recommendations made
To be involved in the development and implementation of robust financial systems and processes, including their on-going review and improvement
To prepare clear and timely consolidated management and financial accounts as required for the Financial Director
Attend board meetings to present financial budgets and other financial information, when required
To ensure the effective implementation and operation of financial controls within the academies and support with budget management and forecasting
To ensure any tax obligations are discharged correctly and effectively, for example, the preparation of VAT returns
To prepare cash-flow forecasts to ensure that the academies’ cash positions are consistent with their obligations and to invest surpluses prudently
To ensure prompt and efficient completion of monthly, quarterly and annual returns, as required
To ensure journals relating to: income, transfers, salaries, inter-company are completed in a timely manner
To act as cost centre manager for specific budget areas
To be responsible for the reconciliation of teams payroll in conjunction with the HR team.
Essential Desirable QUALIFICATIONS
Evidence of Maths and English GCSE grades (A*-C) or equivalent
Record of Continuing Professional Development activities
Evidence of ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Experience as a member of a senior management team
Knowledge and experience of financial management systems and funding
Experience of working with a range of internal and external partners including non-finance personnel
Experience of leading and managing budgeting and reporting processes in an organisation
Knowledge and experience of managing procurement, contracts for services, health and safety etc.
Demonstrable strong organisation and planning skills
Extensive experience of managing and motivating staff and monitoring performance against targets
Demonstrable excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrable excellent IT skills – excellent knowledge & experience of Excel spreadsheets and working knowledge of the Microsoft Office packages
