REED Finance is working with an Academy in South Birmingham to recruit an interim Management Accountant for an initial period of 3 months.  Reporting directly into the Finance Director, you will work closely with the Business Managers and Finance Managers you will be primarily responsible for the compilation and distribution of management reports.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To be responsible directly to the Financial Director for all financial and accounting procedures including the Scheme of Delegation
  • To be the primary contact for finance queries from Finance Managers
  • To oversee financial compliance procedures and monitor and evaluate the finances, ensuring compliance with financial requirements and ensuring value for money
  • To be responsible for salary forecasts, preparing annual budget in consultation with the Financial Director and the strategic improvement plan
  • To be involved in managing financial inspections by internal and external audit and other bodies and taking action on any recommendations made
  • To be involved in the development and implementation of robust financial systems and processes, including their on-going review and improvement
  • To prepare clear and timely consolidated management and financial accounts as required for the Financial Director, 
  • Attend Governing Body meetings to present financial budgets and other financial information, when required
  • To ensure the effective implementation and operation of financial controls  and support with budget management and forecasting
  • To ensure any tax obligations are discharged correctly and effectively, for example, the preparation of VAT returns
  • To prepare cash-flow forecasts
  • To ensure prompt and efficient completion of monthly, quarterly and annual returns
  • To ensure journals relating to: income, transfers, salaries, inter-company are completed in a timely manner
  • To act as cost centre manager for specific budget areas
  • To be responsible for the reconciliation of payroll in conjunction with the HR team.
