Our client an established industry leader in the construction field based in central Kingston is seeking a Management Accountant with some proven experience to join their busy vibrant team. My client is looking for sharp candidates with willingness to learn but also have the core accounting and business acumen to able to run with the existing processes with minimal supervision. Guide the team in accounting and design and set processes various accounting tasks and provide business intelligence.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Preparation of monthly Management Accounts
    • P&L
    • BS
    • Cash flow
    • Comparison
    • Commentary
  • Preparation of Annual accounts
    • Full set of Financial Statements (UK GAAP)
  • Budgets
    • Develop an understanding of the business to budget accurately
    • Provide detailed analysis on each P&L item
    • Forecast models linked (BS, PL and CF)
  • Team management
    • Including AP, AR & Projects
    • Reviewing data entered in Sage/other accounting system
    • Regular Balance Sheet reconciliation
    • Proper coding of the invoices
    • Assisting them with their time and accurate reporting of their data and putting in place new reports improving the accuracy and visibility for the management
    • Provide team detailed Accounting treatment on new items
  • Audit
    • Preparing the audit file
    • Maintaining schedules and reconciliations
  • VAT
    • Prepare VAT returns
    • Carry our necessary reconciliations and adjustments and submit to HMRC
  • CIS
    • Prepare and submit CIS returns
  • Projects

Operating in the construction sector, projects related work in an integral part of this role

  • Fully manage the financials of all the projects in the business
  • Reviewing contracts (JCT)
  • Applications, Certifications, Pay less notices, payments, retention
  • Legal disputes
  • Detailed monthly reporting and accounting of all projects including but not limited to WIP, Accruals, Deferrals, Retention, CIS
  • Reports
    • Cash Flow
    • Finance report
    • Management Board Pack
    • Introduce other reports improving management’s visibility of the business
  • Process improvement
    • Lead process improvements across the Finance function improving accuracy, speed and completeness
    • Master existing processes and systems and then improve controls and processes
    • Create manuals for all tasks within the Finance function
