My client, an established and reputable organisation based in Taunton, are currently recruiting for a Linux Systems Administrator Team Manager. The purpose of this role will be to carry out the defined strategic plan for Linux and related systems at the business and be responsible for managing the implementation of this plan.

Responsibilities Include;

• System administration – day to day administration of production and other systems
• System support – liaise with departments to implement cloud infrastructure changes and support ongoing changes to environments. You will also be expected to act as third-line support and respond to incidents reported by users of the system.
• System maintenance - maintain the continuous deployment code base and system automated builds and ensure that build, deployment and testing of all system components is reproducible through automated processes
• System reporting - reporting of running costs for environments and ongoing improvements to reporting mechanisms
• System releases - administer the release process, including reporting on releases to the Product Owner and Programme Management
• Schedule infrastructure maintenance - routine application of updates and patches to servers at times of low demand. This will usually be carried out outside of standard working hours
• Procurement - manage the process of procurement for infrastructure and services required for continued development and operation of systems and environments

Person Specification;

• Experience of leadership and staff development in a technical / support team environment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to produce reports and give presentations at a business wide level
• Strong communications skills and the ability to present to all staff at the appropriate level
• Report and documentation skills to set out information in a concise and logical manner
• Planning and organisational skills to effectively deliver requirements
• Extensive technical experience of wide variety of server and storage technologies at an architecture, design and technical expert level
• Extensive knowledge of IT security best practice, with particular emphasis on MoD standards and accreditation process
• Extensive experience of Microsoft Windows Servers 2008 and 2012, Virtualisation technologies, enterprise storage area network (SAN) technologies (preferably Hitachi) and other server and infrastructure technologies in a large enterprise environment, either holding appropriate qualifications or working toward them
