The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of both the liquid fuel heating industry and renewable heating technologies, ideally with hands-on experience, and an understanding of solid fuel heating systems.

The successful candidate will co-ordinate and support a small team of technical officers (x 2) and lead the day-to-day technical support we provide to the liquid fuel heating industry, homeowners and OFTEC's registered technicians. Additionally, as the OFTEC registration schemes go from strength to strength through diversification, the job holder will become responsible for providing technical support and advice to renewable heating installers.

The successful candidate will be responding to enquiries from homeowners and technicians and assisting in the production of technical publications and standards, e-newsletter and magazine articles; and the delivery of consultancy services.

What would we like from the ideal candidate?

 Experience 'on the tools' – ideally renewable heating technologies as well as liquid fuel heating
 Knowledge of solid fuel heating systems
 Knowledge of heating system design
 Knowledge of Building Regulations, British Standards and industry codes of practice
 Knowledge of Competent Person Scheme and Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) requirements
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills

However, we are prepared to consider applications from those individuals who are based away from Ipswich and who can effectively and productively work from home. Such remote working will be strictly dependent upon the applicants experience and suitability in the role.

In addition to the job description for this new role, I attached a copy of our Rules for Registration (R100) and OFTEC an introduction to our work (PUB 69) to further aide your understanding of the role. The role attracts a salary of £32k depending on relevant experience.
