Responsible for the provision of server based systems support to NHS in accordance with Service Level Agreements.

Support will be given primarily on physical and virtual server hardware. However, the role will include the installation, configuration and operational management of a large number of diverse and complex computer systems dispersed geographically throughout the county including clinical information databases, patient record systems, e-mail, internet and printing services.



RESPONSIBILITIES

Proactively manage support requests from clients and supporting organisations within operational guidelines, providing support and guidance to Service Desk Operators and assistance to colleagues within the wider IT department.

Responsible for the installation, setup, repair, maintenance and configuration of a variety of complex, integrated computer systems e.g., servers, multi-function devices, printers, Blackberry’s and Networks. Requiring the application of wide range of in-depth Specialist knowledge, experience and specialist training in Information Management & Technology systems.

Responsible for the operational management of all IM&T systems, (including critical clinical and patient record systems) within the corporate estate to maintain continuity of service to clients while providing security, integrity and privacy of all data.

Providing specialist expertise, guidance and top level support, and ad hoc training if appropriate, to all systems equipment users within the Berkshire Health economy. This would include other support staff: managers, 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support or their equivalents.

Responsible for planning and organising daily workloads  including prioritising service calls adjusting work plans to support high priority calls to meet operational requirements which may require remote control software, e-mailing advice and onsite visits.

Responsible for the management of all Service Calls assigned to them through the Service Management system. Ensuring that the status and history of Service Calls are monitored, up dated and closed on completion and that Service Level Agreements are adhered to.

Participate in hardware and software deployments as per the BHFT capital plan, working to a fixed work-plan as designated by the governing Project team.

Responsible as lead IT contact for designated sites or services to take responsibility for communication to clients including complicated, difficult to explain issues, specialist training and coordination of third party support.

Ensure all site procedures are known and followed accordingly as a representative of the IT department and that a high level of professionalism and working standards are maintained.


Requirements

*Educated to degree level or a minimum of three years equivalent experience.
*Microsoft Certified or equivalent level of knowledge
*At least three years’ experience in an IT systems support environment
*In depth knowledge of PowerShell scripting
*Microsoft Server (2008/2012) administration experience
*Detailed technical understanding of the theory and practice of server infrastructures including local area network hardware and software components.
