IT Project Discovery Officer- INSIDE IR35- £204 Per Day

Purpose

Our clients project is a strategic high value project that will involve a program of office moves and changes to working practises.  The ICT infrastructure and devices will also change to enable the new ways of working including the replacement of existing desktop systems with Laptop devices.

The staff member will be required to join the project team and perform the role of ICT Discovery Officer working closely with the business to plan and carry out discovery activities in preparation for the deployment of new technology.

The staff member will also be required to communicate the project objectives, and provide assistance to council staff to enable them to make the transition to the new desktop effectively.

The successful candidate will show:

  • Knowledge of Windows 10 and desktop applications including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to follow instruction and accurately report on progress
  • Ability to work as part or team or in isolation as required
  • Ability to work in a fast-pace environment
  • Experience working within a corporate environment essential, within a local authority advantageous

Scope

The post holders will be allocated work by the Discovery Agent.  For example:

  • Capture details of current ICT equipment used throughout the council
  • Understand how customer makes personal and shared use of devices
  • Input to the Test Approach (and work with Build and Deployment teams to create suitable environments for testing) for:
    • Hardware within the environment
    • Software applications
    • Assistive technologies
    • Specialist hardware peripherals
  • Work with project teams to write detailed Delivery Plans
  • Agree approach with stakeholders as defined within Delivery Plan
  • Manage handover of agreed Delivery Plans to Deployment team
  • Coordinate delivery of new devices in time for training
  • Understand each teams training requirement and work with the training team to coordinate training
  • Be on hand at go-live to enhance staffs experience of their new working environment and tools

Key Tasks

  • Survey and document current environment; user details, hardware, software and portable devices, per team, per building
  • Identify and document shared use areas such as hot-desks, and ICT kitted meeting rooms
  • Identify and document Assistive Technology
  • Timely identification and reporting of non-standard technology
  • Report discovery information to BWP Project team via approved method
  • Raise risks and issues to the Discovery Lead for discussion, mitigation, or escalation
  • Support transition from current to new environment; including UAT as required
  • Discussion with service areas about non-standard software/hardware

 

Key Measures

  • Production of detailed Discovery in line with agreed project timelines
  • Timely
  • Production of detailed Delivery Plans aligned with strategic goals of dependent programmes within agreed project timelines
  • Delivery Plan agreed and signed off by the business

Relationships

  • Establishes positive working relationships with the business on behalf of the programme and ICT.
  • Works effectively with other members of the project team.
