HR Consultant required on a temporary basis working for a leading public sector organisation based in Sheffield city centre. This role is available to start immediately on an ongoing basis.

Duties and Responsibilities include:-

• Delivery of a professional risk based HR advisory service to managers in all areas of people management practice
• Support in formal procedure at level 3 and above or in complex/high risk or high profile cases
• Advise on and support the people dimensions of portfolio Change initiatives and processes
• Assist in defining corporate TU representation standards and effective consultation and negotiation frameworks.
• Operate and support effective operational TU representation and consultation arrangements and support the effective management of the TU contribution
• Ensure HR Advice is based on best practice, consistent interpretation of policy, HR practice and legislation
• Support the development of positive employee relations
• Define and manage the corporate job grading and allocations process
• Develop interventions to support employee engagement activity informed by the Workforce Opinion Survey outcomes
• Develop tools and initiatives to underpin the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and the enable the improvement in representation of under represented groups
• Develop, review and implement policies relating to people management in accordance with best practice and trends and developments in the HR field
• Contribute to effective project management for the development and full implementation of corporate policy and strategy initiatives supporting the people management and OD requirements of the organisation including pay and reward, equality, diversity and inclusion, terms and conditions
• Define quality, structure and review standards for HR communication and information channels (including the HR intranet and on line services) ensuring HR information and guidance is accessible, accurate, fit for purpose and meets user requirements
• Provide easily accessible, user friendly guidance and support material for publication to users
• Review local, national and international developments to advise on appropriate review and development of internal HR policy and practice
• Referral of issues which may have cross service implications to the Service Manager to ensure a co-ordinated whole service approach
• Sign-post or commission specific services from other areas of the service where appropriate
• Develop and maintain effective partnerships to promote positive employee relations and effective people management practice

Experience and Skills required:

• CIPD qualified or working towards ( desirable )
• Experience of dealing with high level complex ER casework ( essential )
• Experience of dealing with Restructures and Redundancies ( essential )
• Experience of managing change ( essential )
• Organisational Development experience ( desirable )
