Our Central London based client in the shipping industry have a brilliant opportunity for a HR Business Partner to join their fast paced and operational environment on a permanent basis, shaping their people plan in a period of transformation and change.

What to expect in the role?

As the HR Business Partner you will be responsible for aligning business objectives, consulting managers on all change issues as well as being the go to for all ER matters too from performance management, absenteeism, grievances, disciplinaries and ultimately potentially dismissals, as well as identifying significant people risks to avoid ER issues to start with.. You will work closely with the Head of HR building and executing the HR strategy, building internal relationships with senior management to create unity and buy in to policies and change. On top of this you will help the business grow and reshape as and when required working on restructure, organisational development and when required redundancies too.

You will look after all Recruitment within the business taking applicants through the recruitment process, to onboarding and induction to supporting them with learning and development and the complete employee lifecycle, whilst building talent strategy and implementing succession plans. You will also look to deliver training to managers and staff alike, upskilling staff and ensuring competency and capability remain high throughout the organisations 200 staff. As HR Business Partner you will be involved in all aspects of HR conducting a generalist remit as well as project work, employee engagement and employee welfare to managing external stakeholders such as benefits providers. On top of this you will help the business grow and reshape as and when required working on restructure, organisational development and when required redundancies too.

What you need to be successful?

You will be a talented and well-rounded HR professional with a strong Generalist skillset who is happy with hands on HR as well as looking at the strategy side of HR too. Your previous role may have been as either a Senior HR Advisor or Junior HR Business Partner, as there is room for growth within this role. You will have CIPD Level 5 or above, or be degree educated, with a willingness to complete Level 7 CIPD qualification. You will excel in fast paced environments being comfortable and adaptable with change and be a true team player. You will have great analytical abilities, be happy to present as well as having good communication skills both written and spoken. You will have sound knowledge of UK employment law and be adept at amending policies and procedures as required, be adaptable and flexible, a team player, with attention to detail and a string business acumen. Having worked in an international and multicultural environment would also be advantageous and the icing on the cake would be having worked for a Japanese organisation – but this is by no means essential.
