HOUSING SPECIALIST (Homeless)
My client are a North London Local Government Office who are seeking an experienced Housing Specialist to support the Boroughs rough sleepers.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION
To provide a housing management service for rough sleepers placed in temporary or private sector accommodation by the Council’s rough sleeping team or supported accommodation team.
To provide a co-ordinated end to end service to homeless clients, from the point they are placed in temporary accommodation, to when they move on to permanent housing.
Housing Management Service 1. To manage a case load of applicants who have experienced rough sleeping in temporary or private sector accommodation. 2. To carry out regular property visits in order to monitor the quality of accommodation, check compliance with Health and Safety standards, and confirm occupancy. 3. To monitor the performance of managing agents to ensure that minimum property standards are maintained and ensure corrective action is taken where necessary. 4. To keep up to date voids information, and liaise with allocations officers and accommodation providers to ensure appropriate voids are identified and filled within set timescales. To complete all necessary admin processes in respect of new placements into accommodation. 5. To contact new occupants within one week of moving in, to check benefit claims have been made, rent cards received and the client has settled into their accommodation. To undertake regular visits from thereon.
