To deliver an efficient, responsive and sensitive Housing Management
 service for the clients customers, working to high standards in
 accordance with legislation,
 performance standards/ targets and customer satisfaction requirements.
 Delivering effective and efficient housing management services to customers,
 adhering to BHP’s standards, targets and procedures.
 Managing a “patch” of properties and garages in an efficient and highly
 effective manner in accordance with housing management policies, practices
 and procedures.
 Promptly dealing with enquiries and complaints and see them to a successful
 conclusion.
 Working proactively to resolve any tenancy issues and problems and provide
 advice and support at an early stage, referring issues to appropriate sections
 within BHP, the council or other agencies to assist with sustaining tenancies
 and resident well being.
 Assisting vulnerable tenants with prompt and appropriate action and advice,
 liaising with other agencies and social services.
 Participate in multi-agency meetings, working groups and other meetings as
 required.
 Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with tenants,
 contractors, stakeholders, outside agencies and colleagues to ensure an
 integrated contribution to BHP’s objectives.
 Tenancy verification and tenancy enforcement
 Taking appropriate and prompt action in controlling squatting, illegal sublets
 and removing unauthorised occupancy through the enforcement of policy,
 procedure and legislation.
 Taking appropriate legal action and to represent BHP in court proceedings and
 hearings to ensure the Council’s and BHP’s interest is protected
Demonstrable Housing Management experience or relevant experience within
a multicultural environment either in an advisory or enforcement role.
 Demonstrable ability in numeracy.
 Administrative and literacy to GCSE level or equivalent.
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
 Working knowledge of Northgate or any other computerised housing package.
 Working knowledge of Housing Legislation as it relates to assignments, successions, illegal occupiers and squatters. Experience of working in a
partnership/multiagency setting
An understanding of housing legislation as it relates to nuisance, neighbour disputes and racial harassment
Good general knowledge of Housing Management issues and problems
