Southend-on-Sea Borough Council serves a population of 175,000 residents and employs approximately 1,700 staff to provide a huge range of services to meet the needs of local people. We are located 40minutes from London which is accessible via 2 train lines, Greater Anglian from Liverpool street and the CSC line from Fenchurch street

The successful candidate, will be required to work within the assigned team of the Highways and Traffic Management Services Group, undertaking lead on various projects, taking responsibility from inception to completion.

You will be required to work with the Team Leader and Group Manager and advise on service plans, projects plans, procurement and technical and legislative requirements and to work to meet the council priorities, and undertake management of team members including appraisals and necessary support for day to day working and development of individuals

Candidates require:-

HNC or degree in civil engineering, highways or traffic management discipline

Successful completion of RoSPA Accident Reduction Course or postgraduate qualification in highways/traffic

Demonstrable written communication skills

To have an excellent understanding of at least one area- traffic/Highways/Parking requirements including the legal framework of TSRGD and various TSM Chapters

An ability to communicate effectively to a diverse range of people by email, letter, telephone and face to face and presentation skills.

Excellent computer literacy using office-based applications

Excellent AutoCad skills.

General awareness of Health & Safety including construction site safety.

General awareness of Equality and Diversity.
