We are currently recruiting for a Head of Student Services, to join a leading higher education establishment in the heart of West London.

This is a 12 month contract to start immediately.

Key Purpose:

To be responsible for the delivery of the College strategy for student services ensuring that it
is managed effectively and efficiently in line with the College’s Strategic Plan, Curriculum
Plan and in line with the College values, providing the highest standard of learning experience for students.

To lead and manage the Student Services department, and have overall responsibility for the planning, resources, control, delivery and quality of the student experience in the College.

Tasks and Responsibilities

To act as lead safeguarding officer for all College sites, ensuring policies are up-to-date and in line with current legislation, safeguarding referral mechanisms are effective and clearly communicated, all staff and students complete safeguarding and Prevent training and all referrals are handled effectively and efficiently.

To manage and coordinate the Student Services provision within the College providing, wherever possible, a single and comprehensive point of reference for student support and for queries on all aspects of their college life.

To manage and coordinate the Learning Centre provision at each College site, ensuring access to appropriate resources and a range of engaging initiatives to support College retention and achievement.

To develop and maintain responsive cross–College Services which underpin recruitment, retention, achievement and progression e.g. management, of the Learner Support Funds, IAG, welfare and pastoral support, childcare, personal development and learner voice.

To review and monitor service standards for all areas of student services cross College consistently delivering improvements in range and quality.

To lead on whole College Matrix review and reaccreditation processes ensuring that the College continues to meet the quality standards and takes action to support any identified areas for improvement

To lead on the personal development, behaviour and welfare (PDBW) throughout the College including being the lead manager during Ofsted inspections and contribute the PDBW section to the whole college SAR.

To ensure through appropriate liaison, that all students receive and appropriate induction to enable them to succeed on their chosen course of study.

To develop appropriate mechanisms to facilitate and manage the access of ‘specialist’ client groups e.g. offenders, homeless, looked after children.

To provide a high profile, exciting student experience which offers representation, personal development and enrichment opportunities.

Liaise with external agencies as appropriate including MIND, Playback, PSEV in order to extend the support available for learners and potential learners and to reduce the risk of learners becoming NEET.

To work with Parents, carers and external agencies in order to maximise the support given to students.

To work with Curriculum staff to ensure student support services are implemented efficiently, effectively and consistently.
