Reed Sales are recruiting for the position of Head of Sales on behalf of a well-established river Port in Norfolk, who specialise in vessel activities in support of the offshore sectors of oil, gas and wind energy.

Reporting to the Port Director, this role will be to assist in achieving target headline sales and to deliver top line growth from targeted markets / customers and to develop.

Experience and Knowledge

 Previous experience of selling services and upselling at mid to senior management levels with customers into the Energy (gas & oil) industry.
 Able to demonstrate significant experience of front line B2B sales, including cold calling.
 Successful track record in converting leads to sales
 Knowledge and experience of supply chain management.

Main Duties

Identify, priorities, pursue and successfully convert port cluster opportunities from targeted markets / customers, both existing and new.
 Maximise any and all opportunities for growth from incumbent and new customers. Target of 8 customer meetings per week or 32 a month.
 Regularly meet with and present to Freight Forwarders, beneficial cargo owners (import & export), agents and Shipping Lines to identify all opportunities for new business.
 In conjunction with the Marketing Department regularly update the above with news on existing and new value added services and Line calls available from the port cluster.
 Negotiate pricing, contractual terms and SLA’s with existing and new customers, ensuring all agreements are correctly contracted and signed.
 Working with Commercial Assistant and Operations Teams to ensure operational performance KPI’s are available and meet customer’s expectations.
 In conjunction with the Contracts Manager ensure all on going opportunity for revenue generation is maximised through the application of the contract.
 Ensure that CRM is populated as the primary source of information, and kept up-to-date at all times.


 Must be driven to succeed and be focused on achieving sales growth.
 Excellent communication skills and adept at working across different functions and cultures within the organisation.
 Established ability to develop prosperous relationships with customers.
 Motivated and committed to delivering the budget.
 An entrepreneurial, personable and tenacious approach to identifying new opportunities, challenging the norm as and when required.
 The ability to confidently present the Ports services to employees at all levels of potential & incumbent customers
 The fostering of relationships with incumbent and potential customers
 A persuasive approach with internal stakeholders ensuring all targeted opportunities are delivered
