A new opportunity has arisen to work for central government as Head of Contract Management working in a team of 10+ Procurement and Supply Chain professionals. Your responsibility is to plan, implement and manage contracts on behalf of a multi million pound spend project over the next 4 - 5 years. Within the role you will give commercial assurance and professional support to ensure the contracts are being managed effectively.

- Lead commercial and contracts management staff, and take responsibility for the delivery of contracts management
- Identify and manage the risks agreed between the parties and contained within an agreement
- Ensure stakeholders fully aware of all obligations under an agreement, and to design and implement such systems, processes and procedures as may be required to protect the organisations risk profile.
- Engage with a wide range of differing internal and external stakeholders, taking on-board the advice and commentary provided, and responding by ensuring their continued involvement and support for the contract management activity is maintained. - Key to this role is an ability to research background and make recommendations on commercial related matters to senior internal stakeholders, so as to enable the organisation to make decisions related to the management of their commercial obligations.
- Assist with concluding procurement actions and managing negotiations with suppliers and other stakeholders
- Provide strategic and operational commercial support
- Provide counsel and advice on commercial position under its contracts with its suppliers
- Have an ability to understand contract terms and conditions, across a range of contract solutions, in order to ensure the risks to ONS are managed and mitigated accordingly
- Provide current and relevant advice on the latest developments in public sector contracts and commercial management, and prepare guidance for relevant audiences
- Work with others to ensure that delivery of the contracts under their control is managed in an effective manner within the agreed constraints


- You will ideally have experience of working with OJEU contracts
- You will be comfortable working under pressure, and assisting with managing change control and reducing the risks of challenges.
