An international organisation focussed on drug discovery currently require a well-established and experienced Head of Materials Science to set organisational strategies and lead the material sciences team. This position will suit applications from individuals with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical or agrochemical sectors, and a proven track record of applying structural data to solve product development challenges.

Role Responsibilities:

• Leading a team of scientists and software engineers, developing the organisations Materials Science strategy.
• Providing expert input into the development of software tools for materials science prediction and modelling
• Be responsible for building and maintaining user communications with customers to allow alignment of Materials Science R&D with the needs of the customer.
• Present at conferences and publish high quality research papers in the field of Crystallography and Materials Science.

Person Specification:

• Higher university degree in chemistry, biochemistry, physics or pharmacy (PhD, DPhil.)
• At least 5 years of working experience in pharmaceutical or agrochemical development sector or industrial materials development, with a proven track record in the application of structural data to solve product development challenges.
• Strong managerial skills, capable of developing the careers of colleagues.
• Good working knowledge of current software tools for materials science prediction and modelling
