My client in Farnham is currently seeking to recruit an experienced Head of Communications & Public Engagement to cover a maternity period to maintain its capacity to recruit the very best students to its range of courses. 

Salary £47,722 - £52,131 depending on experience 

Free parking

Working hours- 36.25 hours per week (9am-5.15pm Monday-Friday) 

Due to this being a contract role my client is looking for someone who can hit the ground running. You must have experience within a similar role for a university or within the education sector. 


The Head of Communications and Public Engagement will be a talented, creative and passionate marketing communications specialist with extensive experience of managing high level corporate communications campaigns and developing campaign collateral for distribution via multiple channels, ensuring that they are delivered within budget, on time and achieve agreed KPI’s.

The role will take lead responsibility for development, implementation and delivery of communications campaigning in support of the core student recruitment activities undertaken by the Marketing & Student Recruitment Senior Management Team and lead the University’s media relations activities.

This post will manage and lead a team of centrally based communications and content professionals delivering promotional and public relations activity promoting the brand nationally and internationally, and maximising the acquisition of talented students across the university’s portfolio as an integrated part of its core Marketing & Student Recruitment Strategy and annual plans. The role will also work with the Assistant Director, Head of Digital Marketing and Marketing Campaigns Manager on targeted campaign activities in international / EU markets both on and offline.

This position will work closely with the University’ Vice Chancellor, Leadership Team and Heads of School to accurately understand the challenges and requirements of the business and promote the breadth and depth of our unique portfolio and the successes of our students and staff.  

This position will manage critical supplier relationships to deliver superior output at competitive cost.

Must have experience within a similar position
Strong track record in leading on the development and implementation of corporate communications and public engagement strategies
Experience in developing and delivering integrated marketing strategies and plans.
Strong external liaison, public engagement and proven management skills.
Experience of producing copy for printed and online marketing solutions.
Development of client-focussed marketing solutions which demonstrate creative flair.
Experience of managing the creation of publications from start to finish.
Experience of developing and leading content rich online and offline campaign materials and plans.
Demonstrable experience of crisis communications management
Demonstrable track record of leading delivery of high quality corporate events
Experience in managing the processes underpinning university fundraising activity
