One of the largest NHS trust based in South East England are looking for a Head of Access to join their organisation on an interim position for 3 months (with possibility of further extensions) to spearhead the transformational design, implementation and ongoing leadership of the patient service centre, outpatients, medical records and other patient administration functions. 

The role will be pivotal to improving the patient experience and central access services by transforming all access pathways to improve efficiency, eliminate waste and improve overall responsiveness. 

It is a full-time role Monday to Friday, 37 hours a week, paying £216 - £333 per day (Umbrella) inside of IR35. The successful candidate will be asked to start in the position as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for patient Access which includes, registration of referrals for booking appointments for patients, effective and efficient management of all aspects of delivering outpatient services via NHS e-Referral Service and management of booking two week wait (suspected cancer) patients with minimum breach.  This will include the selection and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) and milestones that are linked to objectives and can be used to demonstrate delivery.
  • Responsible for Outpatient services ensuring the implementation of safe and patient-focussed outpatient services which deliver the Trust’s strategic objectives and comply with all national waiting time, efficiency and risk management processes. To be responsible for the outpatient booking teams. Lead through the overall organisation and management of the outpatient services, providing a highquality service to patients.
  • Responsible for inpatient scheduling services ensuring the implementation of safe and patient-focussed inpatient scheduling services which deliver the hospital’s strategic objectives and comply with all national waiting time, efficiency and risk management processes. To be responsible for the inpatient scheduling teams. Lead through the overall organisation and management of the inpatient scheduling, providing a high-quality service to patients.
  • Responsible for ensuring the implementation of safe and patient-focussed services which deliver the hospital’s strategic objectives and comply with all national waiting time, efficiency and risk management processes. Lead through the overall organisation and management of the respective teams including reception areas and other patient administrative services, providing a high-quality service to patients.
