Permanent Group Financial Accountant

A privately owned Media Group with nearly £60m of revenue and over 450 staff are seeking to recruit a Group Financial Accountant for their team on a permanent basis. They have grown via acquisition and you will have exposure to many different areas of their complex business.

Reporting to the Finance Director and CEO, within a team of 30. Your responsibility will be to ensure the robust and timely financial reporting as well as providing analysis of key financial metrics to support the group acuqition programme.

• Group reporting to our board and bank each month. Preparing the board pack (including a consolidation of multiple group companies, analysis, cash-flow, balance sheet)
• Business Development - assisting the FD in acquisition due diligence, financial modelling and appraising new business opportunities, raising finance to fund further acquisitions and post- acquisition exercises including drawing up completion balance sheets, calculating deferred consideration payments and integration to the group.
• Group forecasting & budgeting, ownership of consolidating profit forecasts each quarter.
• Oversight of company ledgers and balance sheet which will include detailed quarterly review.
• Taking ownership of the Company audit and providing information and analysis to our auditors and tax consultant, producing audit packs and statutory accounts with full notes and draft corporation tax computations.
• Ensuring that the group is tax compliant (VAT, PAYE & Other) with ad hoc research required.
• Various ad-hoc tasks which will include commercial analysis, improving internal controls & reporting.
• Managing and developing the assistant Financial Accountant

• Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA)
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience either in commerce and industry as a financial accountant or in private practise working in a small to medium sized firm in a role preparing statutory accounts (and audit) of Companies plus at least one year in commerce and industry.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present numbers in a logical, structured and clear way
• Superb accuracy and attention to detail
• Calm under pressure with prior experience of working to deadlines
