We are delighted to be recruiting for a fantastic local eatery just outside of Norwich  that are looking for a Grill Chef.

The Grill Chef is responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the day to day running and of the kitchen. To assist and effectively manage the kitchen team to achieve the highest standard of food production in the kitchen and catering operations. Ensuring all areas of the kitchen abide by food and health & safety regulations.

General Kitchen and Staff Management
 Ensure the efficient and smooth running of the kitchen in the absence of the Second Chef
 Promote and maintain good working relationships through the kitchen and front of house teams
 Assist in the supervision on the day to day activities of the commis chefs and kitchen team members
 Undertake any training as agreed to enhance and improve personal skills and knowledge
 Assist in the training and induction of all new employees
 Ensure all HR policies are adhered to and action taken as necessary
Food Purchasing and Cost Control
 Ensure that stock levels are kept at agreed levels to ensure groceries are fresh and frozen products are used quickly and rotated in a systematic way
 Ensure all deliveries are accurate on receipt and ensure any items below standard are returned ensuring the correct paperwork is received and processed
Quality Control
 Demonstrate and maintain high standard of cooking to meet and exceed customer expectations
 Ensure all customers are dealt with in a pleasant and helpful manner to create a “first class” impression of the restaurant
 Instil into the kitchen a culture of essential hygiene practices connected with storage, cooking and storage of food, the importance of clean, tidy and hygienic working practices such as the use of knives, chopping boards, table surfaces etc. Lead by example in observing the rules concerning personal hygiene and appearance
 Conduct regular checks of all equipment and ensure all faults are dealt with or reported to the Head Chef
Health and Safety
 Monitor all activities in line with the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point approach) diaries
 Ensure compliance with all food hygiene regulations are adhered to within the kitchen environment in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations
 Adhere to all company policies and procedures concerning house rules, reporting of and dealing with accidents, lost property, hygiene, cleaning and health and safety

Relevant experience in a catering environment
A passion for high quality food and food service
An effective team player
A motivated leader, able to demonstrate organisational and supervisory skills
Ability to recognise potential problems and identify and carry through effective solutions
A good level of knowledge of handling and operation of equipment, including knives
Ability to demonstrate effective commercial and people management skills
Ability to communicate at all levels
Able to develop and adapt staff rotas
Able to source and purchase cost effective supplies with the guidance of the head chef
Good working knowledge of health & safety procedures
A flair and passion for food
Good working knowledge of current food trends and special dietary requirements
