We have an exciting opportunity for a high calibre production engineer.

The right candidate will work with a leading manufacturer and supplier of a premium domestic product. You’ll be working with a new team to grow and improve a long established company, renowned for its high quality in a luxury space. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development and efficient production (DFMA) of a ‘New range’ of products, currently being launched in pursuit of an ambitious strategic plan.

Duties include, but not limited to:

• Support new product introduction / existing product improvement: from … jigs and fixtures to layout, flow, work methods, materials, coatings, fixing / bonding methods etc. through to piece part presentation, Kanban, SOP creation and training for assembly workers,… you will help the op’s team realise operational efficiencies for a range of current and planned new products.

• Root Cause Analysis: Being conversant with process flow mapping, waste elimination and RCA methods, you will work in a cross-functional team environment, leading and supporting the identification and improvement of engineering, process and human factors, in projects ranging in size, complexity and focus.

• Good communication Skills: You will ideally be able to use a design package such as SolidEdge, be computer literate generally and use your good written and verbal communication skills to liaise between all team members and, on occasion, present to senior members / other teams. On a day to day basis, you will work closely with procurement and design to provide production solutions to the highest Quality, Cost and Delivery standards.

• H&S / General: The ideal candidate will understand the H&S requirements of a factory environment and what is required to create compliant equipment. They will be flexible, able to smoothly transition from jig and fixture design, to the manufacture of their designs and ideas from fabrication to precision engineering, either in house, using machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders etc. or with the support of 3rd party suppliers, they liaise and work with to access additional skills (e.g. PLC programming for test equipment etc.).

Ideal experience to carry out the role:

• Some design capability would be welcome but not essential (training may be given)

• Lean Manufacturing Experience / Exposure.   E.G. Kanban / Piece Part Presentation / 5S & Visual Management / TPM / Single piece flow & Takt etc.

• Waste elimination (7 Wastes) and Process Flow Knowledge

• Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) - development and maintenance

• Mech / Mech-Elec / Pneumatic / Machining / programming … ‘hands-on’ skills / 3rd party selection & management.


Details:

Hours: 40hrs p/w – 9-5 with an hour for lunch

Salary: CIRCA £28,000
