Category Marketing Manager – responsible for one the main product streams for this Cambridge based wholesalers. Fixed Term Contract (9 Months), £35,000.

A busy, hands-on opportunity that would suit a highly energetic marketer that is capable of managing a high number of projects simultaneously.

Based on location, this role is commutable within 40 minutes from: Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Milton, Ely, Huntingdon, Newmarket, Mildenhall, Chatteris, St Neots & Saffron Walden 


Key activity in this role centres on the delivery of strategic marketing objectives and managing core team & stakeholder relationships. Delivery involves:

Working with Suppliers: create strategic supplier marketing plans to grow supplier base and improve product availability in line with company objectives.

Working with Vendors: develop marketing plans which mutually benefit the strategic objectives of both this business and the resellers.

Working with Teams: regular liaising with multiple internal teams including;
    - Finance (management of budgets/funds and to monitor supplier invoicing)
    - Purchasing (drive strategy for category development from a marketing perspective)
    - Trade Marketing (who will deliver collateral and materials to support strategic plans outlined for the category, develop collaterals for promotional activity and develop materials for product marketing activity)
    - Reseller Sales and End User Sales Teams (briefing and liaising with these teams regarding promotional activity and strategic marketing objectives and receiving feedback from resellers/end users on products)

Propose and Implement Improvements: Propose product assortments for e-communication, review past promotional performance and make recommendations for future promotional activities, review ROI on marketing activities to suggest suitable adaptations.

Reporting on Activity: to senior Board (budget tracking, monthly updates, forecasted accruals, areas of risk and plans to mitigate) Internal Teams (marketing activation, trade marketing, sales) and External partners (vendors & suppliers)



We’re looking for a candidate who has worked in a similar role before, ideally having managed a category or product line within a retail/wholesale context. You’ll have a proven track record of managing multiple projects and stakeholders, and delivering success within a strict schedule.

Minimum 3 years’ experience within a similar role, of 5 years’ experience in a transferrable marketing context.

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft platforms. Knowledge of Adobe design packages desirable.

Occasional UK travel may be required throughout the contract.
