We have a fantastic opportunity available for a Financial Management Information Officer, working at a Leading Local Authority in Greater Manchester. This is a temporary full-time role, initially for 2 - 3 months.

The Role

Your role will be to support the Financial Management Service across our place and corporate resources directorates, delivering value for the borough.


Working with budget managers to ensure that services are cost effective and provide value for money, e.g., project appraisals and unit costing.

Proactive in monitoring all ledger items and provide accurate and timely information, interpretation, analysis, advice, and guidance to the relevant officers within the directorates.

Development of budgets, forecasts, financial modelling, and year end accounts, in accordance with agreed timescales, standards and code of practice.

Contribute to the accurate preparation and maintenance of the department’s budget.

To work with budget managers on a one-to-one basis, to ensure that projects are cost effective and provide value for money (project appraisal).

Develop, maintain, and provide in conjunction with senior managers in the service area, a range of financial information for budget holders including unit costs and budget monitoring information.

To identify key risk areas, and work with service managers to mitigate the risk.

Provide advice to and liaise with a range of budget holders across the department to ensure that the best use is made of the department’s financial resources.

Assist In the arrangement and administration of a programme of financial training for all staff within the department.

Provide financial support regarding departmental initiatives

To provides training in a lead role to ensure all staff are adequately trained.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Financial Management Information Officer within local government finance
  • Part CCAB Qualified or equivalent
  • Excellent people skills, being able to talk to all colleagues, and other Senior Professionals.
  • Strong IT Skills, including excel spreadsheets
