An exciting opportunity has arisen to join medium sized engineering firm within Central London for a Financial Controller who is looking for a 3 day a week part-time role.

The role is seeking an experienced Financial Controller who has the capability to present key financial information to the executive and operations board. It will report into the Executive Director for Finance along with managing an Accounts Assistant and working closely with the External Auditor/Company Accountant

This role offers a competitive base salary and benefits package and the firm are open to suggestions regarding a flexible working pattern that could suit the right candidate and the business. Please note the salary highlighted will be on a pro rata basis. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for budget preparation working with Executive Director of Finance and Operations Board
• Full responsibility for maintenance of finance systems and the processes for month end and year end
• Full responsibility for preparation of files for audit and supporting external auditors with the process
• Ownership of monthly management accounts and relevant reports which includes departmental and company-wide reporting
• Purchase ledger and sales ledger management
• Reconciling nominal accounts up to trial balance
• Management of credit control, bank analysis and reconciliations
• Payroll, pensions and company benefits management
• VAT returns preparation and submission
• Producing weekly cashflow reports, manging monthly accruals, prepayments and similar journals
• Liaising with different offices to prepare work in progress summaries
• Management of company credit card system, petty cash control, maintenance of systems to control expenditure

Experience and skills required:

• ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified will be preferred however qualified by experience might be considered
• 3 years’ experience in a similar role
• Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office knowledge to a medium/advanced level
• Experience with Access accounting system will be highly advantageous
• Managerial experience would be highly preferable
