Seeking your next step to Financial Controller? Position offers a clear path also for progression to Finance Director over the course of the next 2/3 years.

My client has a rich history within Manufacturing and as such now seek to add to their team in the form of a Financial Controller. This is truly a unique opportunity to step into the role and become the Finance Director of the future. 

The role will initially be responsible for one of the SBU's (c. £40m). The role will require travel and overnight stays as and when required. 

Purpose of the role: 
- Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts and cash flow forecasts 
- Provide accurate and timely annual audited statutory accounts and the regular payments to HMRC e.g. VAT, PAYE deductions, corporation tax, PSA etc.
- Develop, implement, monitor and revise accounting and financial policies, procedures and systems, including time-recording, to ensure the provision of accurate and timely data, and the imposition of appropriate financial controls
- Direct and support audit and inspection activities to ensure an appropriate compliance and risk regime exists which actively supports the business
- Assist in the provision of financial education within the organisation as appropriate.
- Work with the land agent, surveyors, architects and project managers, provide financial support and advice on one of the major ongoing projects.

- Comfortable working at senior level
- Commercially aware and able to utilise financial expertise to assist the company to achieve its strategic and business goals
- Highly motivated and self-disciplined, able to manage own time, prioritise requirements and multi-task, with good organisational skills
- Must be team oriented and willing to work collaboratively with peers, able to quickly form strong working relationships
- Orientation to developing and enhancing the financial expertise within the organisation, actively taking a lead in coaching and educating peers in improving their financial skills and expertise.

- Good standard of education including a good class degree or equivalent, preferably in science or social science subjects
- Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification e.g. FCA, FCCA, FCIMA
- Up to date knowledge of UK accounting standards and company law
- An active interest in maintaining their own continuing professional development (CPD).

Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years commercial sector experience in a finance role
- Previous experience (minimum 5 years) of responsibility for financial controls within a time and materials (T&M), manufacturing based organisation
- At least 5 years previous experience of managing a mixed team of professionally qualified and administrative staff members.
- Knowledge of SAP desirable
