Financial Controller

Roles like this don’t come across very often. They are a true leader in their field and have a reputation second to none in their field. They’re client list is as strong as they come and based on their continued success and growth, they are now seeking a Financial Controller.
This is a brand new position created by the CEO of the business and will suit someone with strong career aspiration to match the companies’ ambitious plans.





As the main work of this business is overseas, effective liaison with Heads of Department (who in turn will be dealing with overseas suppliers, agents and subcontractors) is paramount.

The Financial Controller will work directly with the Company’s financial advisors and the CEO, heading up the everyday financial activities including:
• preparation of time-critical month-end accounts (P&L, balance sheet & cashflow) and WIP
• ECS listings
• VAT returns
• bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• accruals and prepayments
• year-end reconciliations
• monitoring book debt
• annual budgeting
• regulatory compliance issues


The role will also entail day-to-day communication with the CEO who frequently requires project-based feasibility financials.

Additionally the post holder will be responsible for:
• Submitting information to statutory authorities including HMRC on time
• Ensuring that the department meets Company policy objectives and procedures including ISO compliance
• Liaising with external advisors on the preparation of statutory financial information and audits
• Line management of a team of finance coordinators

QUALIFICATIONS

• ACCA/ACA or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 5 years post-qualified commercial industry experience

• The post holder will require a complex set of skills – must be a combination of process driven, analytical, flexible and visionary
• Must be capable of doing, and also content with doing, routine processing and month end accounts
• Must be dynamic and forward thinking, with high level of flexibility & adaptability
• Full of enthusiasm, a can-do attitude, and a good Ambrey culture fit
• Acute commercial awareness
• Ability to provide accurate information on demand and at speed
• Quick learner
• Excellent communicator at all levels
• Must be excited by, and enjoy, the challenge of a fast moving/changing environment
• The job holder will be responsible for managing and developing a small and young accounting team so the ability to develop and get the best from others is essential.
