My client is currently looking for a Finance Assistant with payroll experience to join them on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role will be to assist the Finance team to deliver timely and accurate financial information to the business.

This role is ideal for someone who will either be AAT qualified or studying towards an ACCA qualification or equivalent. This position requires experience in payroll, excellent double entry knowledge as well as accruals, journals, reconciliations and admin experience.

The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years’ experience within an all-around accounts role and who is happy to get involved with all aspects of a finance department to expand their knowledge and progress.

Key Responsibilities 

• Prepare fortnightly temp payroll for nurses and doctors

• Post self-employed invoices for payment runs

• Accounts receivables including invoicing and credit control

• Credit card postings and reconciliations

• Bank reconciliations

• Monthly VAT returns

• Balance sheet reconciliations

• Prepare month end journals

• Provide cover for the other Finance Assistants in periods of absence

• Assist Finance Manager with implementing any business systems automation, improving business processes and projects as required

• Other ad hoc support to the finance department as and when required

Experience

• ATT qualified or studying towards ACCA – preferred

• At least 1-2 years accounting experience – essential

• Experience in Payroll – essential

• Knowledge of AR/AP and balance sheet reconciliations - essential

• Intermediate knowledge of Excel – essential

• Knowledge of VAT return completion - preferred

• Internal financial controls experience – preferred

• Experience in Sage payroll and Sage X3 - preferred
