There is now a fantastic job opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter at one of the most iconic oil and gas companies within the UK. The company has experienced massive growth due to extended contracts and international clients. My client is looking for you – their next Mechanical Fitter to complete mechanical tasks associated with the Preventive Maintenance Programme. As well as liaising with all internal departments to ensure that projects run smoothly and that technical information is passed on correctly.

What does the role entail?

As the mechanical fitter, the position will report to the maintenance manager, and will involve responsibility for all mechanical tasks associated with breakdown maintenance and you will have to complete mechanical tasks associated with the installation of equipment. Your teams remit will cover the whole of the maintenance and repair process this will include proactively and reactively looking after the site.

What Skills will I need for this role?

You will ideally have experience working in a skilled and experienced in mechanical maintenance, ideally within an Oil & Gas or Chemical industry but not essential, other highly regulated industries will be considered. On top of this you will need to have an understanding of working in a COMAH site is an advantage and have knowledge of Risk Assessments and COSHH. Ideally a time served apprentice City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical engineering subject is essential. You would need to be comfortable working at heights and have good fault finding and diagnostic skills, experience of a fork lift truck or cherry picker is an advantage but not essential. As well as the skills needed to perform the role you will be a strong communicator at all levels from entry level to senior management, be highly driven with exceptional attention to detail, possessing a positive and approachable demeanour.
