Clive Page of REED Engineering is currently seeking an Aftermarket / After Sales Product Engineer to join a global automotive client.

Key responsibilities:
• To define and implement best cost processing methods for volume manufacture of press-form aftermarket formulations. Specifically this role will focus on the development of the next generation of pressure cure machinery, and its implementation in EMEA AM production sites. Close collaboration with the plant engineering and central AME groups will be required.

• To lead product localization activities across EMEA AM production sites, working in the plants on all aspects of industrialization and product validation. This will be in combination with initiatives to increase material utilization and develop high waste content formulations

• To develop alternative shim materials for entry and mid grade product, and to reduce shim complexity and shape variation. This will require a breadth of materials and process knowledge normally beyond the scope of a friction material product engineer.

• To support the global AM Engineering team in the development of novel and robust products and processes, through undertaking investigations, running trials and analyzing test data.

• This is a hands-on job in the overlapping areas of process and product development – requiring an individual with broad technical skills and experience, knowledge of business drivers, and an innovative approach.

Essential
• Strong technical background
• Experience of R&D environment
• Experience of experimental design and structured problem solving
History of successful product development and innovation

Desirable
• Knowledge of NPD methods including APQP, QS9000 and TS16949
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools
• Evidence of project management skills training
• Friction material industry experience
Relevant experience in a similar automotive or industrial environment role
