You will be involved in teaching them life skills, shopping with them, and getting them used to travelling around the city. Alongside this the role will also be classroom based, or whatever that young person requires.
Your main roles and responsibilities will include:
To facilitate the delivery of education programmes to small groups and individuals under the direction of tutors/ managers.
To be responsible for ensuring that work undertaken within service area is conducted in line with statutory regulations and within Service Area, Directorate and wider Council guidance and best practice.
To ensure that learners are kept safe at all times.
Being a key worker for learners as directed by appropriate managers, ensuring barriers to accessing learning are addressed including supporting bursary applications.
Contributing to the speedy and effective transfer of information between services, settings and families.
Participate in accreditation processes as appropriate to the learners under the direction of managers and tutors.
Work closely with others to achieve a full and shared understanding of the needs of individual young people and contribute to target setting as part of the EHC process
Providing personal care, first aid and medication as appropriate.
Ensuring all safeguarding and health and safety processes and protocols are in place, adhering to LLLSC and policies and OFSTED requirements.
Develop and maintain appropriate mentoring relationships with young people and those engaged with them.
Offering peer mentoring and support to other members of the team.
Participating in, and where appropriate, leading continuous development activities to increase good practice across the service.
Contribute to decisions affecting curriculum planning and development.
This is a term time post, ongoing until Feb 2018, primarily 8.30am-4.30pm, with a degree of flexibility around these hours.
Pay rate: £10.71 per hour, 37 hours per week.
Team Teach training is required but will be given if needed.
Interviews are commencing at the end of this week.
In order to be considered for this role you must have had prior experience within an Educational Support Worker role.

Due to the nature of the role, we require a full 5 past year work referencing, with at least 2 care and support references within this time frame. We will also need to submit all successful applicants to a DBS check, at a cost of £44 (refunded after completion of 100 hours of work).
