Southend-on-Borough Council are seeking an Early Help Family Support Practitioner to join the Complex Needs Early Help Family Support Team. The department is seeking a practitioner to work with parents/families who will challenge behaviour and motivate change. You will be in a key position to facilitate the work programmes and ensure interventions are age appropriate to meet the needs of the whole family and the wider community. This job is being offered at 37 hours per week on a permanent basis.

The successful applicant will hold a caseload of families who are facing difficulties and need a dedicated worker to work with them to overcome their problems and help them to have a better quality of life and you will be able to produce positive outcomes for the families in line with the Southend Outcome Plan.

The job requires that you undertake full and thorough assessments of family’s needs and strengths and collate multi-agency information, as well as providing full and thorough assistance to families in order for them to meet their Support Plan targets and collate multi-agency information. Working in conjunction with communities and stakeholder agencies, you will provide and deliver inclusive intervention packages. Working outside of normal office hours is a requirement to meet the needs of the service area.



This job role requires previous experience of working with families or young people for a minimum of 2 years and be able to take a full caseload, in exchange you will get support and development from the team. You will have a knowledge and understanding of the effect of social and economic disadvantage on young people and families as well as current legislation and issues regarding anti-social behaviour, children and adult safeguarding and education.
