Design and Technology Technician 
Full Time - 08.30 – 16.30
Permanent Position 

We are looking to recruit a Technician to assist teaching staff in our Design Technology Department. The ideal candidate will need to be practical with hands on experience, including the ability to use laser cutters, 3-D printers, CNC routers, band and circular saws. Good IT and organisational skills are essential. You will need to be a strong team player but also have the ability to work independently.

This is for a all through independent school who are graded outstanding and is one of the leading UK schools. The school is set on a large site with multiple well facilitated buildings and high technology throughout. 

To assist teaching staff in providing students at Berkhamsted School with a relevant and
effective Design & Technology experience and ensure high levels of achievement.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Daily/Lesson Preparation
Prepare materials and ingredients as required by the subject teacher prior to lessons
Ensure hand tools are kept in optimum condition and stored correctly
Organise extra equipment for lessons
Regularly maintain the equipment and tools in the workshop and classroom areas
Empty and clean the dust extraction filters as required by the manufacturer
Keep all classrooms organised and free from hazards
To assist Technology staff in developing appropriate resources for teaching and

Organise materials and tools in the Department
Clean & maintain laser cutters, 3-D printers and CNC routers
Stock-taking, auditing and ordering of materials and equipment
Organise and catalogue books & all print resources in the Department
Assist with organisation of trips
Assist with the annual Art & Design Exhibition
Provide support for teaching staff during practical lessons
Under the direction of the Head of Department, ensure that all Health & Safety
requirements are met
Assist teaching staff in promoting and raising the profile of D&T within and outside
Support the development and delivery of Computer Aided Design & Manufacture in
Work as part of a team within the Art, Design and Technology Department assisting
each other as and when required
Undertake such other tasks relevant to the work of the Design Technology
Department or the needs of the School as they may arise, e.g., help prepare for
Open Days

Key attributes:
Practical/hands-on experience, including the ability to use laser cutters, 3-D printers,
C&C routers, band & circular saws
Ability to show initiative and to priorities one’s own work and that of others
Ability to work as part of a team and individually
Self-motivating with the ability to multi task
Confident in the use of ICT
