REED Education are working closely with a special school in the Reading area to recruit for a Design Technology Teacher on a permanent basis from January 2020 to teach KS3 and KS4 students. The school is a purpose-built special school in Reading for students aged 5-13 with high-functioning ASD.
The school provides extensive training for ASD and you will receive weekly training in an ongoing capacity. We are looking for an experience teacher of Design Technology including Resistant Materials, however applications from newly qualified or experience unqualified Design Technology Teachers are warmly welcomed.
Being a “good” OFSTED rated school, you will be joining a team of experienced and supportive special needs practitioners with a drive to progress their students and the performance of the school.
With a team of experienced and committed teaching and learning support staff who hold specialist knowledge of autism and are passionate about developing their students' education and personal development. The school has small class sizes and additional support staff to support teaching across the primary and secondary curriculum. With plans in place for the school to expand over the coming years, there will be opportunities internally for career progression.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with autism. You will understand the challenges of working with the challenging behaviour and have experience of applying appropriate strategies and can demonstrate proven results. You will be an excellent communicator as well as a confident support team member.
For the right Design Technology Teacher this is a permanent position, paid to scale starting in January 2020.
