Reed are currently seeking a Qualified Social Worker for a Childrens Deputy Team Manager position for the London Borough of Brent. You will be working in the Localities service. 

You must be HCPC registered and have a degree in Social Care or equivalent. 

Job Duties:
To work alongside a Team Manager to manage a team of Social Workers and other staff, providing a service to children and their families.

To work alongside a Team Manager to manage a team of Social Workers and other staff, providing a service to children and their families within the remit of the team’s specialist area.

To ensure the provision of a high quality, cost effective and efficient social work service to Children in need and their families. To provide such a service within agreed departmental service and financial priorities and the Council’s Equal Opportunity Policy.

To ensure that the Department’s key performance targets, as they apply to the specific team, are met. This will include responsibility for ensuring the protection of children, including taking action under Child Protection Procedures and emergency legal action under the Children Act.

To assist the Team Manager in the management of devolved budgets within the designated service area and to ensure adherence to financial regulations.

To share responsibility for the day-to-day management of the team, ensuring that services are delivered to the highest professional standards, meet key measurable objectives and operate within clear and up to date operational policies.

The Deputy Team Manager will be responsible for the supervision of designated members of staff and for the organisation and management of the team’s duty system as well as other specified areas. Support for staff and ensuring the smooth conduct of day-to-day business are important aspects of this role.

To ensure that the needs of service users are identified and that the assessment of these needs form the basis of individual care planning as well as the wider commissioning strategy for children in need.

To process and maintain cases using the Department’s Electronic Case Management System utilising the Integrated Children’s System and the Children’s IS Index.

To ensure that such services are provided in a manner that reflects departmental and corporate policies and those decisions about resource allocation are made with due regard to the Department’s eligibility criteria and reference to the Team manager and Head of Service as required.

To utilise effective management information, including ICS and the child index and quality assurance systems to ensure that high standards for service delivery are achieved and performance targets (including Performance Indicators) are met.

To deputise for the Team Manager in their absence and to provide cover for other managers as appropriate.

To undertake recruitment of social work and ancillary staff within the agreed departmental recruitment procedures.

To maintain and develop professional standards of practice and of individual staff in the team.

To identify individual training needs and develop a training plan for each member of staff.

To be responsible for the management of the Council’s disciplinary, grievance, incapability, sickness, harassment, health and safety issues and other relevant personnel procedures, for example toil and annual leave in relation to supervisees.
