Reed are currently working with a client based in Gosport who are seeking a full time and permanent data Analyst / Funding Data Officer position.

This role is seeking candidates who are immediate or on a 1 month notice.

The post holder will be responsible to the Management Information and Funding Manager, and will
play an active part in ensuring that the College’s shared outcomes as follows are achieved:
 Students enrol
 Students achieve
 Students remain on full, enjoyable and challenging programmes
 Students aim high and progress



The Role:

To assist with the derivation and submission of the timely and accurate data sets required as
part of both funding claims and external performance data assessments.
To understand and map the data structures within the two entities, and assist with the
migration of data into new, common systems.
 To assist as required with system development, business process support and user training.
 To promote and protect the reputation of both entities, both within the institutions and in
the wider community.

The post-holder will be responsible for assisting with the production and submission of
funding claims and performance data to government funding agencies and other organisations. All
such submissions must be timely, accurate, and carefully reviewed to ensure that they support
business targets and forecasts.
Funding claims (Individualised Learner Records or ILRs) and performance data submissions are
generated by assembling a huge array of raw data
The role therefore includes a wide range of activities, as follows:
Understanding requirements: The post-holder must quickly develop a detailed knowledge of the
national college funding process and timetables, funding guidelines and the ILR specification (these
change annually). They must then understand how funding data is analysed by various agencies to
calculate funding levels as well as to produce public and private college performance statistics.
Managing data: Assisting with business process design to ensure that data relating to students,
courses and enrolments is suitably managed to provide the required funding and performance
information; maintaining “back-office” ILR data fields; ensuring that sufficient validation and errorcheck
reports are in place to catch bad raw data caused by human error.
Funding systems: Maintaining and operating funding-related software including LARS, FIS, PDSATS and
successor packages.
Generating funding claims: Carrying out timely planning, preparation, checking, and documentation of
funding claims to meet government deadlines; monitoring the resulting KPIs including headcount,
programme sizes, funding levels; monitoring areas where funding may be enhanced or jeopardised
(bursaries, high-needs, Maths and English enrolments etc).
Performance management systems: Maintaining and operating systems which use funding data to
provide college performance indicators; training and advising staff on interpretation; assisting with
development of performance forecasts; producing and checking data submissions for external
agencies

4. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: DATA MANAGEMENT
The post-holder will be pivotal in the process of merging two college business system environments
into one. This includes working with other members of the MIS and IT Support teams to:
 Understand and document the existing data structures in each college.
 Participate in the design of a common data structure.
 Participate in requirements planning and the evaluation and selection of new packages and/or
new modules of existing packages.
 Map data between old and new systems, and design the required import/export functions to test
the data transfer process and furnish test data required for further development associated with
the new system.
 Coordinate the gradual transfer of live data during and at the end of a parallel running phase.
 Provide general assistance with the implementation as required.
 Assist with the support and development of all business systems and reporting processes as
required.
