The Office runs a service desk comprised of three members of staff. Due to a temporary secondment, the Office needs cover for nine months for one of these staff members.

The role holder will have two main areas of work:

1 - Service Desk.

The Service desk is the customer face of the Office and handles requests for help & advice, fault reports, orders & changes requests for phones (both desk & mobile). Contact with customers is via the telephone and email.

The person will work with the other team members to provide cover on the Telecoms Service Desk during office hours.

2 - Phone Replacement Project.

The Office has committed to replacing approximately 1,500 Cisco telephones with newer models this calendar year. The role holder will be responsible for managing this project. They will liaise with institutions to arrange the swap out of handsets, and also liaise with the supplier to order new handsets and return old ones. Detailed record keeping is paramount as the role holder must be able to account for every phone received and sent out.

Requirements

The role holder must be customer focused, with a polite, friendly, helpful, can-do attitude. They must have a fastidious attention to detail be well organised and be competent at basic data manipulation in Excel spreadsheets. Although this is not a technical role, they will be working within a data network department, so a basic understanding of computer networking (or a willingness to learn) would be advantageous.
