Southend Borough Council is excited to be recruiting a candidate to join their Customer Service department in an administrative capacity. Customer Services consists of several teams, and although posts are allocated within a specific team, everybody operates a flexible approach to ensuring all priorities are covered. As the recruitment partner for Southend Borough Council, Reed are eager to support Customer Services in finding a new team member.

This job is being offered on a temporary basis for the foreseeable future. 

The main purpose of the job is to operate professionally as an individual and as a team member for the benefit of the customer, regularly contributing ideas, suggestions and feedback to appropriate line managers. You will deal with a range of enquiries, processes and procedures by various channels from both external and internal customers contacting the team. As a Customer Service Administrator your duties will include providing efficient administration support such as typing up statements/notes, composing standard letters and documentation and drafting emails. As all customer service vacancies involve dealing with members of the public you will be expected to provide an efficient and courteous response to enquiries in person, over the phone and in writing.

This job role will require you to have a good general education at GCSE level or equivalent. You will need to have experience in using Microsoft Office packages including Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as other databases. It will be essential for you to have accurate keyboard skills, a good telephone manner and interpersonal skills. Whilst this role is administrative, you will need experience of customer conduct and providing high quality customer service. You will be expected to work to deadlines and be able to prioritise your workload.
