Cover Supervisors needed – North Wales, Cheshire West and Warrington
Are you looking to gain experience working within a Secondary School environment? If so, Reed can help…
Have you thought about working as a cover supervisor?
Cover Supervisors are now a regular feature in secondary schools across the UK. This academic year Reed Education has been very busy with requests for Cover Supervisors from local Cheshire schools.
The main role of a Cover Supervisor is to provide cover for absent Teachers and deliver work that has been set by teaching staff.
Schools are choosing Cover Supervisors more and more for their day to day cover, giving you a great opportunity for a variety of work to suit when you are available.
There are no formal qualifications needed to become a cover supervisor, although a reasonable level of literacy and numeracy is a must, and experience working with children or in an education setting is desirable. Successful Cover Supervisors have charisma, energy, patience, presence and a sense of humour and love working in the classroom.
We recruit cover supervisors from a range of backgrounds, including coaching, youth workers, TAs looking for a step up and even overseas trained teachers looking to gain a foothold in a local school.
Many people who are considering Teacher Training or completing a PGCE find becoming a cover supervisor very helpful. Not only does it provide a source of income, but also gives experience in schools, especially behaviour management, which is essential when applying for a chosen Initial Teacher Training route. Reed Education are pleased that through their hard work, a number of our cover supervisors are now fully qualified teachers and loving their new career!
"As I was transitioning towards my career as a teacher, Reed offered me the perfect opportunity to gain hugely valuable experience in the classroom, earn a wage and all while having a flexible timetable that gave me more control over my decision making when planning my next steps. Jordan and the team were hugely welcoming and reassuring when I first got started, and they took the time to understand my position and offer me roles suited to the types of experience I would benefit from at this stage in my career. Communication was flawless, they were always on-hand if I had any issues and were open with regards to my feedback. In my short time working with Reed, I was able to work in three excellent schools in different roles that gave me authentic and invaluable experience of the modern classroom that will be hugely beneficial to me starting my career as a teacher. I am very grateful to Jordan and the team and would relish the opportunity to work with them again in the future. “Candidate testimonial – Cover Supervisor
