Reed Procurement & Supply Chain have partnered with a highly reputable Scottish manufacturing organisation to recruit for a Supply Chain Specialist to join their Glasgow based team on a permanent basis.



As Supply Chain Specialist you will be primarily tasked with improving cost, quality, service and delivery in relation to our client’s key suppliers.



You will manage key suppliers from our clients Glasgow based head offices and travel to supplier sites primarily across the UK with occasional requirements to meet suppliers located in Germany.



Main operations include product manufacture (metal, plastic and electronic components) and assembly of key components



You will be integral to driving vendor improvement programs with a focus on;

Proficiently manage the outsourced production and assembly operation partnerships which play an important role in the company’s success.
Quality – agreeing quality standards, building quality in to processes, upholding high standards (Six Sigma).
Cost – cost reduction programs (Lean), managing price fluctuations (currency/material), costing new products, commercial negotiations (part prices and terms).
Service – internal process and systems improvements to ensure timely and positive customer experience.
Delivery – working to achieve customer request dates, lead time reduction with suppliers, forecasting, stock reduction initiatives.
Product - implementation of new production and assembly processes, BOM management, product improvements.
Communication – Responsible of creating efficient and error free communication flows i.e. Automated data transfer
Lean Enterprise ( eg value stream mapping, pull systems, kanbans, wastes, 5S)
Six Sigma techniques (e.g. root cause, poka yoke)
Total Supply Chain Management (integrated flow from start to finish)
Business Process Re-engineering
Continuous Improvement Methods
Vendor Improvement Programmes (design and execution)


This is a key appointment therefore, the role operates within a fast paced environment meaning you must have the ability to manage a busy and demanding workload, have strong negotiation, planning and organisation skills, be excellent at decision making and problem solving, be able to prioritise, and be able to remain calm under pressure.



You will possess a minimum of 5 years manufacturing Supply Chain Management, you will have a grounded understanding of supplier management, value chain best practice and techniques, experience of managing numerous stakeholder requirements.
