    Title – Communication Support Worker      

    At Reed Further Education, we are currently working in partnership with a large College in the Cheshire area to recruit for a number of Communication Support Workers; to work on a full time/part time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to progress your career in a College who have a large Learning Support department.

    The role of a Communication Support Worker can be varied, and you should be able to adapt to the different demands of the day-to-day role.

    This role will primarily involve delivering 1:1 support to learners requiring British Sign Language Interpretation.


    Key Responsibilities

    * Working in the Additional Support department, you will be working with a variety of learners and be expected to meet the College's standards of work

    * Interpreting using British Sign Language

    * Note Taking, acting as a scribe during exams and lessons

    * Supporting the learners in class, out of class (assignment work etc) and during extra-curricular activities, such educational trips or work experience

    * Working closely with the curriculum to encourage inclusive learning

    * Promoting equality and integration of Sensory Loss students

    * Develop, review, and implement strategies during the academic year, using individual learning profiles and other college systems

    * Assisting learners using specialist equipment and software



    * Recognised BSL Qualification

    * Level 2 Maths & English

    * Previous experience working in either a school or college environment

    * A DBS or willingness to apply for a new DBS

    * Available for the new academic year

    * Passion for supporting students with additional supportive needs
