Community Support Worker

Location: SHEFFIELD, SOUTH YORKSHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM Salary: 9.00-9.00 GBP (UK Pounds) Per hour, inc Benefits
Sector: Community Care Services and Job Type: Temporary

I am looking for passionate, energetic, and enthusiastic people to join a team providing support with the community on weekends and during school holidays.

You will be supporting a young man to engage within the community, support him to access suitable safe places to run and burn off some energy and enable him to engage in activities whilst providing his family with respite.

My client has special needs and is very energetic and loves to be in the great outdoors regardless of the weather!  Being a support worker with my client usually means no two days are the same; one day you could be supporting him swimming, another you could be heading off to the local countryside and another to the farm.

He has no danger awareness and therefore always requires close supervision, and this means where he goes staff need to be always with him and so you need to be physically able to keep up with him.  He has a zest for life and loves to explore with a real sense of adventure!  He is a very personable and engaging young man who can be cheeky and mischievous and great fun to be around.

He does require his personal care needs to be met during his sessions, so you need to be comfortable with providing this.

If successful you will be part of a small, dedicated team who support him 2:1 due to his close supervision.  He can demonstrate some challenging behaviour but this is usually directed at himself and a result of being unable to express himself so you will need some patience and to remain calm until you can identify and resolve the issue.

Ideal but not essential you will have a clean UK driving licence.  My client has his own vehicle to enable him to access varied activities and locations, so we require a driver on each shift.

We provide support 11am to 4pm every Saturday or Sunday and Monday - Friday during school holidays.  You will need to demonstrate your availability to his rota and offer regular availability to cover as consistency is important.

The pay is £9 per hour
