We have a female support worker role based in Beckton to support a lively female client in her fifties with learning disabilities and anxiety. She enjoys meeting new people, chatting and doing activities such as exercises and embroidery classes. She requires help with grocery shopping and her finances. She is very independent. She worries about her money and needs extra help with her finances. She also tends to stockpile grocery items for fear of running out and requires support with budgeting and shopping. She also self harms when she becomes anxious. She is also a dedicated full time carer for her adult son who has Autism. She becomes distressed when he is challenging and needs to talk difficult situations over with her support workers. Above all she needs a support worker who will listen to her concerns and engage her in conversation. If you enjoy chatting, are patient and a good listener this may be the ideal position for you.
You will need to have 6 months’ care experience working with a range of clients.
This will be a temporary position paying £10.75 per hour. Week day shifts available.
Main Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Working as part of a team to ensure the safety and well-being of the client
- Helping the client to deal with problems and become independent.
- Helping the client with her finances
- Prompting medication
- Monitoring self-harming and reporting incidents immediately
- Keeping detailed daily records
- Engaging the client in activities in the community
