The Clinical Coding Auditor will assist the Audit Manager to undertake a programme of targeted clinical coding audits for all specialties across the Trust. Ensuring the accuracy and quality of clinical coding conforms to national standards, and ensures appropriate reimbursements of patient care under payment by results. This role involves liaising with clinical coders, clinicians and managers, to enhance the accuracy and completeness of clinical coding and documentation provided for coding, consequently ensuring income is maximised for all specialties within the Trust.
The need to feedback coding errors and flag poor practice both in coding and documentation standards is a priority for the internal coding audit programme and will link directly to coder training and performance management.
As an accredited clinical coder you will gain experience through on the job training and will work towards attending the HSCIC audit training course.

Education/ Qualifications

Degree or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, employment.

Accredited Clinical Coder ACC

Must have completed Foundation Course, Comprehensive list of Specialty Courses and Refresher course

Report Writing Course
Experience of working as a coding analyst using ICD10 & OPCS4

NHS experience of coding audit programmes in an acute Trust

Experience of report writing

Experience of using computer based administration office systems.

Experience of successfully working to service level and performance targets

Specific audit experience covering a wide range of operational coding audit and feedback

Ability to work as part of a team
