REED Social Care are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority for a residential childcare worker to work in several residential mainstream children's homes in Edwinstowe, Mansfield, and also Southwell.
The role is to provide safe, supportive and positive care to all resident children and young people, this will include pro-active involvement in all aspects of their day to day social and educational care.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Ensuring that managers are informed of significant matters arising in connection with the Home, issues of Ofsted compliance and/or the young people.
Providing care within an environment that positively integrates race, culture, gender, disability and sexual orientation.
Maintaining a current knowledge of legislation, practice issues and developments locally and nationally in their field of work.
Contributing to behaviour management strategies.
Having an understanding and knowledge of child development.
Communicating effectively, professionally and sensitively with children, young people and their families.
Working in partnership with other professionals, community groups, voluntary and statutory agencies.
In order to be considered for the role, you must have had experience of working in a children's mainstream residential setting. The role is temporary, initially for 3 months and you need to be a driver with access to a vehicle. You will be expected to work in both locations - Edwinstowe and Southwell. Pay rate is from £9.94 per hour rising up to £14.91 per hour for waking nights during weekends. Other shift enhancements apply for unsociable hours throughout the week. You will need to be flexible and be able to work evenings and weekends.
An Enhanced DBS will also be needed - either one dated within the last 12 months or a DBS on the Update Service.
